Derrick, I agree with you that I would not like to pay more money to go here. However, I do not agree with you on the fact that one department gets all the money.
The athletic department brings in a ton of money to our school. Go to a game, watch how many people are there. Then go to a music performance, not as many people show up. As a member of the clogging team here, I work just as hard as any other student. The Bailey Mountain Cloggers bring in a great amount of money to the school,through our performances, competitions, and concert.
How do we do this? We get out there, show ourselves and our talent to anyone and everyone. We support the other teams on campus, we support the other groups on campus. We get our names out there by ourselves.
Now the music department in my eyes is a great one. But do not bash the athletic teams because they bring in more money. Do something about it.
You've already made one step by putting your comments on here. However do not feel bitter towards the coaches or athletes, I feel that they deserve what they receive. They are not the ones you are upset with, so instead of putting the spotlight on one particular group, make this a chance for you and your fellow musicians to make a difference. Changes start with you.
