I think I am little perplexed as to why the Open Doors club needs to be recognized as an official group of Mars Hill College. If they are not sanctioned by the college, could they not perform the same functions that they currently are? (Ex. sponsor functions, hold meetings, etc.) Why is becoming a sanctioned club so important?

I may be ignorant to a few facts, but I just don't see the relevancy of this club being sanctioned by the college. Mr. Miller repeatedly said that his group is all about "respect for the individual" and not an activist movement; however, one can certainly assume that if there is no other reason except for name recognition then it is in fact an activist movement.

Until I see evidence that them being sanctioned has more meaning then just name recognition, I would like to suggest it be left the way it is....a non-sanctioned club.
