Carissa, you and I had some fun times last semester in that BSS class. If you weren't wearing the heart monitor, I was. I must agree, the beeping of those things is annoying and a hassle to deal with.
Even though you and I have went through similar heart problems over the past school year, you served as a great role model for me because I always knew that there was someone else who was doing the same thing I was doing...fighting for that one last race, that one last inning. It's great to see you recovering on and off the field. Never give up. Never give in. I cling to my faith the same way you do. Never doubt it because it will always be the crutch in which you need.
I had to end my collegiate running career a month early because I had lost so much time between surgery and the conference meet (this Friday, April 16th). I'm running for my health now, for fun (yes, running for fun does exist despite popular belief) and it hurts to see my teammates travel to meets without me. But I know that I am stronger because I overcame what caused me so much, well, heartache. It seems that when something drags me down my heart aches a little to remind me how far I've come. Always take advantage of the moment given to you. You never know how long it will last.
Keep on truckin' Carissa and remember how much stronger you are now than before.
