Christian Team Ministers Through Motion ...and More

Do you enjoy sign language or interpretive movement, ministering to others, and having fun with fellow Christians? Here is your chance to try your talents with the Creative Ministries team of the Christian Student Movement.
Team members express their love of Christ through a combination of drama, sign language, and interpretive movement, acting out their message to contemporary Christian music recorded on CD.
The style is upbeat, and the drama uses up-to-date scenarios to teach a spiritual Bible lesson. The team uses sign language to interpret the songs and uses movements to emphasize the message.
Team leader Erica Pace defines the performances as "A form of worship that includes praise music used to worship the Lord in sign language or dance." The team learned much of the material from Jeff Smith, a professional from Chester, Virginia. Smith choreographs creative movements for youth groups in churches across North Carolina and elsewhere.
Weekly meetings and rehearsals are held in Bentley Fellowship Hall on Thursdays from 4 to 5 p.m.. The group plans to perform on Tuesday mornings during the Crossroads chapel service and during the F.L.A.S.H. dinners in Fellowship Hall. Also, the group performs on Wednesday nights at the theater across from Mars Hill Baptist Church.
Pace hopes to share the gospel in the surrounding community this year. She also plans to bring back old songs and introduce new songs to create a variety of performances. Among the selections she would like to use again are "In the Light", "When I call on Jesus", "I Can Only Imagine", "You Are My God", and "Shout to the Lord". New songs being introduced this year are "Speechless" and "He reigns".
Pace would like to recruit a large team so more parts can be distributed and different people are seen on stage. The group welcomes poets interested in reading their work on performance night.
