Overall administrative management of the second largest school system in Western North Carolina, currently with a membership of 11,3000+ students, 1,500+ employees, and a budget of over $57 million. Within the first six months of my Superintendency of the Henderson County Schools, the community approved a school bond, and we completed a $36 million building program by August, 1993. Also, the community decision makers agreed to merge the Hendersonville City Schools and the Henderson County Schools, effective July 1, 1993. As we were developing a new organizational structure for a merged school system, we also developed a restructured grade organization, opened three new schools, and closed two schools.

Through these significant organizational changes, we were able to maintain student achievement. Currently, under the N.C. Accountability Program, the system consistently is in the upper echelon of systems in North Carolina. The system and its staff have gathered many awards for enhancing public relations efforts, but most importantly, in the area of teaching.
