SART's 2009 Season

The summer season of the Southern Appalachian Repertory Theater begins Wednesday, June 3, with performances of Funny Girl. Here's the season lineup:

Funny Girl

This Tony-award winning musical is a semi-autobiographical performance based on the life and career of Broadway star and commedieene Fanny Brice andher stormy relationship with gambler Nicky Arnstein.

Big Criminals

A world premiere production and winner of SART's 27th annual ScriptFEST playwrights festival last fall. Three desperate men plan a kidnapping, never realizing that their jobs as school crossing guards haven't quite prepared them for a life of crime.

Death of a Salesman

July 1-12

Authur Miller's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning masterpiece of salesman Willy Loman.

Brighton Beach Memoirs

July 15-26

Neil Simon's semi-autobiographical coming-of-age comedy.

Home Again

July 29-Aug. 9

A SART Heritage Series production about Thomas Wolfe from the time he wrote Look Homeward Angel until his untimely death at the age of 37.

The Foreigner

Aug. 12-23

A Southern comedy of manners. At a fishing lodge in rural Georgia, things are not what they seem to be in this hilarious farce of absurd situations and homespun American characters.
