Remembering A Friend

It will have been one year on April 20, 2008, since the sudden death of my roommate, my teammate, and my best friend Ryan Murray. Ryan was a freshman catcher here at Mars Hill last year. He was from Mount Airy, Maryland.
I have to say it was a hard year. But it was also a year to reflect on the good times we had. I still remember like it was yesterday when we would go to the Exxon at three in the morning for food because we weren't tired, and the times we went back home to my house for the weekend. I also remember a game during spring break where he started for the first time in ten games, and he went 3-4, and not to mention when he got a single in his first-ever college at-bat, and he ran to first base grinning from ear to ear.
Ryan was the type of guy that got along with everyone. He had zero enemies and would give you the shirt off his back if he needed to. He would also sleepwalk occasionally, which freaked me out a little bit I must say.
I think about him every day, as do most people on the Mars Hill campus and everyone that knew him. I was supposed to go to Ocean City, Maryland with him for July 4th last summer, and when that day came it was hard. It was hard because I couldn't call him or see him. I'm still waiting to see him when I get back to our room, but I know I will see him again one day in that better place.
As I continue my baseball career I dedicate every game that I play to him, because he had such a great impact on my life. He could always make me laugh no matter what!
Rest In Peace Mur-Dog. We all miss you down here and we all still love you. I hope this campus continues to pray for the Murray family and for everyone that knew him, when times get rough, think of the time Ryan made you smile… because I know he did!
13 & 17, love you bro.
