WEB ART CONTEST!!!
Sponsored by The HILLTOP

A $50 gift certificate from Best Buy offered for the best web page in each of two categories.

Website Front Page:
This page announces, promotes, explains, defends, introduces…a particular subject, which can be a product, event, political candidate or cause, organization, religion, etc. Subjects may range from a private family reunion homepage to a campaign to bring democracy to Burma.

Entries will be judged on:

  • General graphic impression

  • Clarity and depth of the message delivered

  • Ease of navigation

The judges will consider only the opening page, which may include moving images and self-loading changes - essentially everything the viewer sees when the front page opens and without further clicks.

Links to other operational sites must be real. Most front pages include links to secondary pages as well. You may choose how many of these you actually wish to complete. (For example, if you are building a shopping site for a line of clothes, you do not need to make an operational online ordering page, but you might want to include an example of a page showing off a dress.

Art for Art's Sake:
This category will be judged on genius alone - whatever you can make with sound, color, and motion on a video monitor. It can be interactive, dynamic, or static.

General rules:

  • All entries must be submitted on CD ready to open from an index file saved in the top level directory.
  • In a separate .doc or .rtf file list all software used in constructing your entry (Photoshop, Dream Weaver, etc.) and identification, item by item, of the sources of all imported graphics such as clip art, photos, drawings, cartoons, etc.
  • No obscenities or false or slanderous information.

Send or bring entries to The HILLTOP office at 320 Marshbanks - Top Floor by APRIL 15.
