Michael Adrian Higgins
by Chad Schroeder
PFC Mike Higgins left Mars Hill last year with a set of Greek letters and the hope for an exciting summer.
He got his wish once he enlisted in the Marine Corps. Now he is in the midst of combat in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Higgins came to Mars Hill College directly out of high school in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and quickly settled in to college life. He pledged Delta Kappa Theta fraternity and became a brother in the fall of 2001.
In a series of e-mails sent to fraternity brothers and family, he said he never thought he would see combat, but he feels more than ready and is excited to protect America. Although he was toying with the idea of transferring, he says, "the Corps has become my life, but I miss Mars Hill."
